David and Goliath
The large host (Platythyrea conradti) and its tiny guest (Pyramica maynei) nest in the same hollow branches of West African forests. Brood chambers are adjacent but separate. The guest scavenges on the host’s remains of its prey, while the host benefits from an improved hygiene in the nest. Nevertheless, the guest can survive alone and remains able to hunt collembolans..
